CRIBS supports pregnant women and women with new-born babies up to 12 months in Athens, by providing housing, essentials, support with breastfeeding, and help in accessing necessary medical care and appointments.
Our new Free Shop has just opened, to enable our families and others with new-born babies to access everything they need in a respectful and dignified setting.
We currently house 15 families in 9 flats across Athens, most around the Kypseli area.
CRIBS is looking for at least one (more would be amazing) volunteer caseworker! Our housing project supports families going through pregnancies, or raising infants up to one year old. We strive to provide follow up support to people we house on medical, administrative and social issues.
If you have any experience in legal assistance, midwifery, psychosocial care or just a good general knowledge and understanding of the situation in Athens for asylum seekers and migrants and you are interested in working more specifically with women and babies along with a small but very dynamic team, please get in touch!
Ideally we are looking for someone who can commit a minimum of 6 weeks and would welcome volunteers who can stay longer. The ideal candidate would be able to operate semi-independently within Athens and come with at least some working knowledge of the organizations and support available to refugees and migrants there. The position is already open and would need to be urgently covered by mid November.
