We are looking for a volunteer who will manage our Child Friendly Space programme for at least 2 months.
Our Community Center is about 10 minutes walk from Camp Lagadikia near Thessaloniki. It consists of a Free Shop for the residents, regular community activities such as workshops and leisure activities, a women's space, kids activities for different age groups and English classes . The aim of the Community Center is to offer the residents a place to come together outside of the camp, to enjoy themselves, meet volunteers, get access to information and education, on top of providing them with essential items such as food, hygiene articles and occasionally clothes in our Free Shop.
The CFS project lead is in charge of organising the kids activities that we offer during English classes, so parents with small children can take part in school, this means the age group for the kids in this programme is roughly between 0-6. The project lead takes one day a week for planning and organising the following week and is in the project itself 3-4 times a week. You will have a team of volunteers who work in the CFS project (so you don't necessarily have to be there every day), but will be on top of this part of our project, which means induct new volunteers, guide the team, give them ideas and instructions for daily activities and report to the coordination.
The IHA volunteer team is situated outside of Thessaloniki. Your stay with us would also include taking part in other parts of our project, such as the other community activities, the Free Shop or in our Warehouse. To learn more about our organisation and projects check out our website:
