IHA is looking to recruit an experienced coordinator to join our field team in Northern Greece, starting around mid June and available for a minimum of six months. The Field Coordinator manages IHA’s Lagadikia Community Centre project, one of our two ongoing projects in Northern Greece. The Lagadikia Community Centre is a place for learning, social interaction and cultural exchange. The Community Centre offers English and Greek classes, an info hub, workshops and social and recreational activities. Most of these activities are currently suspended due to the Corona pandemic, but we are hoping to gradually reopen the centre in June. We are following a community inclusion approach, with the goal of building bridges between the refugee community and the local host community, and are planning to further develop that aspect of the project in the coming months.
The Field Coordinator will work closely with two other coordinators, reports to the General Manager (Germany-based) and, as needed, to the board of directors. IHA has a semi-flat hierarchical structure, meaning that there is cooperation and dialogue across the organisation. The ideal candidate is intrinsically motivated, adaptable, passionate about the cause and able to work on their own initiative with limited supervision in a challenging environment.
Coordinating the ongoing activities of the Community Centre Project, as well as developing and implementing new activities
Supervising, training and debriefing of staff & volunteers (project leads, interpreters, teachers)
Monitoring and evaluating the project and individual activities
Ensuring that the project runs in a sustainable manner, best practices are implemented and standards are met
Establishing and maintaining professional relationships with key stakeholders: beneficiary communities, local host communities, international NGOs and partner organisations in the grassroots sector.
Developing the community inclusion approach and the project’s long-term strategy
Managing the project budget
Creating brief written reports on a monthly basis and contributing towards IHA’s annual report through a yearly summary
Experience with or strong interest in developing a community inclusion approach
Experience working in humanitarian/social grassroots projects for refugees/asylum seekers in Greece
