At refugeeEd, we seek to pair experienced teachers (education specialists) with grassroots charitable education organisations working with refugee communities in Greece where currently:

  • There are 75,000 people in camps and unstable accommodation.
  • 57% of refugee  children are not in formal schooling
  • Refugee Adults are in need of language skills to help them build a new life

The current global COVID-19 pandemic means that thousands of refugees in Greece are now missing out on vital education; and refugeeEd is unable to provide face to face  support and Education Specialist volunteers for the education organisations with which we usually work. We are therefore redirecting our focus to deliver online content  and provide  mentorship support remotely to help  keep  those vital grassroots education projects going and we urgently need Education Specialist volunteers to help!

How can I support refugeeEd remotely as an experienced teacher with time to volunteer either on a regular or one-off basis?

If you have access to a computer, an internet connection; and in addition, to any current or previous teaching expertise, you have:

  • experience in early years or primary education settings and/or with older or adult learners; or
  • designed programmes for students with English as an Additional Language, particularly for those with little to no prior English and/or knowledge of  the roman alphabet; or
  • developed vocational training courses; or
  • mentored  and/or trained other teachers

...we could pair you with an organisation in Greece to support refugee education by:

  • Working alongside individual project coordinators to develop curricula, schemes of work, new educational projects, initiatives or approaches; or
  • Leading/recording  webinars on  topics such as online or virtual learning, approaches to lesson planning, behaviour management or developing interactive activities for multiple education organisations to access.
  • Providing one-to-one remote support for teaching projects in Greece through a mentoring programme

How do I get involved?

If you or someone you know are experienced teachers who want to volunteer to support refugee education projects online, please email us now for further information at
