Long-Term Volunteer English Teacher

To our services in the refugee camp Skaramangas in Athens, we are looking for a long-term volunteer interested in contributing as an English Teacher for at least 6 weeks. The English teacher position is responsible for the instruction and facilitating of our daily running of our English classes. English classes are run Monday through Friday from 15:00-18:00. The position is open to either part-time of full-time applicants, where full-time positions would include participation in morning camp activities from 10:00-14:00. Among the English teaching tasks are:

  • Maintain and develop routines for operating English classes
  • Training of volunteer staff to English classes
  • Ensure safety within English classes
  • Report weekly to DiH English Project Coordinator
  • In cooperation with the DiH English Project Coordinator, ensure adherence to and instruction of English curriculum, schedule and daily lesson plans 

We are looking for a volunteer with the following preferable background:

  • Experience instructing English as a second language
  • Good leadership skills
  • Service minded and experienced with problem solving
  • Experience with humanitarian work
  • Fluent English skills
