foodKIND is a small 100% volunteer-run humanitarian organization that gives food with kindness to refugees.
foodKIND supports Community Kitchen Workshops in camp Oinofyta. We provide equipment, food and guidance to empower the resident to cook for themselves. In addition, we also provide food to the residence of Malakasa who are awaiting official registration.
We have volunteer accommodations available in our shared house in the small town of Dilesi about one hour north of Athens. In order to make sure that all the money we raise goes towards food, we ask our volunteers to donate 10€/night towards the cost of the volunteer house. The house has 4 bedrooms each with a single and a bunk bed (3 people per bedroom), 2 toilets, 2 showers, communal space, a washing machine, wifi and a kitchen. Transportation is provided to and from the volunteer house to the camps.
Typical daily jobs include chopping, lifting, smiling, carrying, cooking, cleaning, scrubbing and laughing. Due to the large amounts of food that we provide, there is some heavy lifting and carrying.
The application is the first step in the process, then you will have the opportunity to ask questions and gather more information.
The application is not a commitment on your part.
