foodKIND is a small 100% volunteer-run humanitarian organization that gives food with kindness to refugees.
foodKIND supports hundreds of people in Malakasa camp who have no means of support by providing a hot meal. We also provide weekly nutritional packs to pregnant and nursing mothers in camps Malakasa and Oinofyta as well as weekly food packs to vulnerable people in Athens.
We have volunteer accommodations available in our shared house in the small town of Dilesi about one hour north of Athens. In order to make sure that all the money we raise goes towards our mission, we ask our volunteers to donate €10/night (max €200/month) towards the cost of the volunteer house. The house has 4 bedrooms each with a single and a bunk bed (3 people per bedroom), 2 toilets, 2 showers, communal space, a washing machine, wifi and kitchen a large garden and a terrace with a beautiful view. Transportation is provided to and from the volunteer house to the camps. If you prefer, you may find your own accommodations but you must also provide your own transportation.
We work Monday to Friday, Saturday and Sunday are days off. Typical days are 8 to 10 hours, jobs include chopping, lifting, smiling, carrying, cooking, cleaning, shopping, scrubbing and laughing. Due to the large amounts of food that we provide, there is some heavy lifting and carrying.
The application is the first step in the process, then you will have the opportunity to ask questions and gather more information.
The application is not a commitment on your part.
