foodKIND is a small volunteer-run humanitarian organization that gives food with kindness to refugees.
foodKIND is currently refocusing our operations in order to best serve those who need us most. We will be stopping our current operations at the end of August and will then spend some time setting up a free shop/food bank in Athens (with an aim to be operating by November). This new free shop will be stocked with basic dried goods, produce and essential non-food items such as diapers, feminine hygiene products, soap and toothpaste. Beneficiaries will be able to come in and choose what they like based on a points system. We think this would be a really powerful project that gives beneficiaries the dignity and freedom to choose what they need rather than a pre-packed bag of groceries that was selected for them. Our mission, vision and ethos will remain the same - to provide food with kindness and compassion to those who need it most. The core of foodKIND will not change! Once we have finalized an opening date for our free shop we will once again be accepting volunteers to help run the free shop. If you wish to be notified when we are accepting volunteers please send us an email at action@foodKIND.org.
The application is the first step in the process, then you will have the opportunity to ask questions and gather more information.
The application is not a commitment on your part.
(Also spelt: Food Kind. Accepts volunteers under 21; minimum 18 years old.)
