ANKAA Project

ANKAA Project is a NGO founded in 2017 by a team of long-term volunteers, providing education, vocational training and fair and sustainable employability in Athens. Since 2017, ANKAA has provided a variety of courses, workshops and training seminars to more than 1,200 registered members, while it has created and offered jobs in the organization to 5 people from socially vulnerable groups.

Our work aims at empowering people experiencing social exclusion (refugees, immigrants, asylum seekers, unemployed) for better access to education and the labor market, by offering courses and workshops that meet their different needs and desires.

Another part we are proud of is our production line! In April 2020, responding to the emergencies created by the global pandemic and remaining true to the values ​​of environmental protection and the circular economy, our team began producing reusable protective masks from organic cotton, focusing on "buy one-donate one". To date, 7,000 masks have been donated to people in need.

Around the same time, the collaboration with the non-profit organization mimycri began, a project that uses the materials from the plastic boats with which thousands of people arrived on the shores of the Greek islands and turns them into bags. Since June 2020, the production, packaging and shipping of products is done by the ANKAA Project. Through our production, we aim to make our project self-sufficient in the future while offering to even more of our students a way to make a living using the skills they have learnt.
